Our club was founded in 1939 and is the home for competitive sailing and rowing on Lake Wylie, Charlotte, NC — a family-oriented, private club with an active social calendar.

Sailing
The most active club racing program in the Charlotte area. Our emphasis is on racing; we also have cruising and pleasure sailing events.

Rowing
Competitive masters rowing since 1991. Our teams travel to regional and national regattas and bring home a fair share of medals.

What's the buzz all about?
We are home to competitive sailing on Lake Wylie.
CYC offers both one-design and Portsmouth fleet racing. Whatever you sail, we have a fleet for you. CYC is home to three different national champions in the MC and Wayfarer classes.
We are THE place for competitive rowing on Lake Wylie.
CYC rowers travel to major competitions every year and bring home a fair share of gold, silver, and bronze awards!
We host great, casual, lakeside social events.
Every major holiday features a different themed party using our classic clubhouse and lakeside picnic area. Great food, fellowship, and entertainment are our mantra.

Club sailing race results
Dinghy races are sailed boat on boat — the order of finish is the order boats cross the line. Portsmouth boats start together, and finishes are adjusted by US Sailing rating.

A family club on a quiet cove of Lake Wylie
The Catawba Yacht Club is a private, non-profit club founded in 1939 to provide family-oriented sailing and docking facilities for members. CYC has two active programs — sailing and rowing — plus an active social program. CYC does not have any paid staff: all club members participate in club operations and maintenance.
