A hearty group of members and guest members assembled today to cleanup debris from Hurricane Helene, perform general maintenance, and prepare the club for upcoming events. Yards and Dock Chair Rob Gruber led the effort and filed this report/thank-you.
We would like to thank all who were able to participate in our workday today. Several teams worked tirelessly to tackle some major tasks. Some started as early as 7:30. Refreshments provided by Rich Rabassa helped motivate us to burn some calories. One large group led by Phil Gilmore worked to replace deteriorating rowing shell racks in the rowing shed. Another large group led by Rob Gruber tackled all of the debris on the beaches from the storm. Another group led by Jeremy Bizon went about replacing well over 20 rotten deck boards in the marina area and another group led by Ron Wright was focused on general grounds improvements like mowing, weed-wacking, pruning, roof and grounds blowing, scrap removal, decluttering, safety list issues, campsite cleanup, etc. Still another team worked on the kitchen. We knew our day was over when we completely filled the two dumpsters; the small dumpster by the clubhouse and the huge, one-time, cleanup dumpster!
Christy Burford, Harriet Gruber, and Ron Wright took over 50 pictures you can see here.
