Welcome to the Catawba Yacht Club, a family oriented club founded in 1939. There is no better place on Lake Wylie to enjoy sailing, rowing, or our active social program.
Parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis by the clubhouse, at the entrance to the marina, along the hill between the gate and the first DO NOT PARK sign, and outside the main gate on the easements. For parties and large club events parking is also available along the retaining wall in the Jim Cook One Design Center. PLEASE DO NOT PARK BETWEEN THE SIGNS ON EITHER SIDE OF THE LAUNCH RAMP. This area must be kept clear for boat launching. Please do not park on the launch ramp.
You may leave your boat at either of the two club docks, unattended, for a maximum of two consecutive nights. When unusual circumstances arise, Yards and Docks chair is empowered to grant exceptions.
The sailing captain manages wet/dry slips. The rowing captain manages rowing storage. The recreational boat captain manages kayak and waterside storage. Choose “About Us” from the top-of-screen menu and scroll down to “Officers” to find the respective captains.
Yes, non-members can sail as a member’s guest without joining the club. If a non-member elects to sail an entire series s/he must pay a fee to participate in the races that helps pay for the season trophies that members and nonmembers are eligible to receive. The fee is $40 per series or $100 per year.

The meetings allow members to vote on issues and candidates for offices. Each family gets a vote.
Two regularly scheduled membership meetings are held each year – one in the spring and one in the fall. The Secretary can also call for a membership meeting if the majority of the Board of Governors or fifteen members request one. The Secretary must issue a notice to the members within seven days of the meeting. This usually happens two weeks before a meeting.
New-member candidates start by meeting a few members. This often happens by taking our learn-to-row class, participating as guest rower, participating as a guest in some of our club sailboat races, and/or attending a social event as a member’s guest. If you want help meeting new people, contact either the rowing captain, sailing captain, or the entertainment chair.
