Catawba Yacht Club filled the picnic patio, front porch, and kitchen patio for the 2025 Membership-Spring Party on Saturday April 26, 2025 at the club.
Vice Commodore Ann Crehore led us through the event which included a “Blessing of the Fleet”, a superb meal prepared by our entertainment committee, our official Spring meeting, and lots of great fellowship.
This was the second year in a row for our Blessing of the Fleet ceremony. Representatives from each of our club programs (rowing, sailing, recreational) had boats in between the docks. Ann shared a description of the traditional blessing as members lined the docks. A moment of silence was held, flowers were set afloat, and eight bells were sounded for Tom Guerrant and Harry Ingle. The event concluded with John Crehore reading Alfred Lord Tennyson’s “Crossing the Bar”.
