The rowers of the Catawba Yacht Club are pleased to announce an adult Learn-to-Row class for April 3-April 13. This will be our only 2025 class.
This course is intended to be an introduction to the sport. Our goal is to enable participants to row in a 4 or 8 person rowing shell using one or two oars (“sweep rowing” and “sculling”). Most participants will sweep or scull, not both. On an exception only basis, should a participant have a need to do one or the other, please include that request (and reason) in registration.
Class details:
1) Thursday 4/3 6:30 PM -8:30 PM Registration, payment, CYC intro, rowing demo and intro to equipment and terminology. Class starts at 6:30, please plan to arrive 6:00-6:15.
All water sessions are in the AM:
2) Sunday 4/6 8:30-10:00 & 10:00-11:15. (Arrival 8:15).
3) Saturday 4/12 8:30-10:00.
4) Sunday 4/13 8:30-10:00.Cost: $275, includes all instruction, equipment and a temporary registration for USRowing. Payment instructions to follow.
We can accept 15 in this class. First come, first served.
Prerequisites: You must be 18 years or older.
You must be able to swim.
