The 2025 Jim Cook One Design Regatta was held on Oct 25-26, 2025 at Catawba Yacht Club on Lake Wylie in Charlotte, NC.
US Sailing PRO Chris Kicinski and her team ran five races in outstanding conditions over the two day event.
In the MC fleet, 2025 National MC Champion (heavyweight division), Jan Havmoeller, ran the table with five consecutive bullets to earn first place. Fred Herr sailed 2-2-2-2-3 for second while Jim Higgins sailed 3-3-3-2-4 for third.
In the Wayfarer class, John and Mary Driver from Annapolis, Maryland sailed a 1-1-2 Saturday to take a healthy lead after one day of racing. They then sailed a third bullet in race five on Sunday to overcome a 7 in race 4 and win the 2025 Southeastern Wayfarer Championship by 2 points over 2024 champion AnnMarie Covington and Shauna Rankin-Byrne. Uwe Heine and Nancy Collins were third.
The fleet remembered the late Jim Cook with the presentation of the 2025 Jim Cook Award to Richard Johnson. Alicia Cook made the presentation that included a moving tribute to Jim.
Back on land the fleets combined for a great party Saturday evening that featured live music by Catawba’s own 60 Something Band and a great southern BBQ dinner.
